
Members Day
There are lots of ways for Members to get involved with decision making at Designs in Mind. One of these ways is to attend Members Days. A chance for Members to get together and discuss any issues or suggestions they have without staff being present.. These are then fed back to the relevant members of staff. It is also a chance to let Members be involved in launching new projects that are coming up. We then finish with a bring and share lunch, which is a lovely social occasio

Meet the Team - Kevin
Kevin has been a member of Designs in Mind since 2013. He started doing some maintenance around the building and is now the first person we go to if anything needs fixing, if he can't do it, he knows someone that can. Kevin also volunteers with the Listen and Connect team and spends one morning a week in the studio as a listener. His favourite project is the mosaic we produced for Baby Bird cafe. Sadly the cafe is no longer there but you can still see the mosaic on the ground

Listen & Connect
Designs in Mind has a warm and supportive group of listeners that comprises of paid staff and volunteers. We work alongside members in sessions building trust and connection. The listen and connect team are trained by Samaritans, who Designs in Mind work closely with. We use an empathic approach to help people explore their problems and where possible support them to connect with appropriate external agencies. Meet the Team - Jenny
Jenny joined Designs in Mind as a volunteer in 2016. She soon progressed to staff member and in 2017 she became Systems Administrator. You can find Jenny in the office most days. She is the one that sends out internal emails, meeting minutes and policy updates. She works very hard behind the scenes making sure that everything is up to date. Meet the Team - Ros
Ros has been part of the Designs in Mind team since 2009. Starting as a volunteer she has since transitioned into various roles including admin support, studio photographer and working in the Jolt shop. She is now an Artist volunteer and Listen and connect volunteer and you can find her in the studio on a Thursday. Ros's main focus has always been to support members in any way she can, to support the artist running the workshops and give support to other staff and volunteers

Health Equalities Programme - HEP
The Health Equalities Partnership Programme is to pilot increased support and non-clinical interventions to people in the Oswestry area who are experiencing mental health challenges and who also use drugs/alcohol. Designs in Mind role in this is to introduce people to creative processes, develop new skills and new tools to use as coping mechanisms, increase self- confidence and self-esteem through non-clinical experiences.
