We sometimes offer project work experience for students from a variety of courses, including mental health nursing, creative arts, health and social care. We are not a place for Arts Therapy students, as this is something we don't offer at Designs in Mind. For further information contact -

Design Lead at Designs in Mind

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our studio as a Design Lead.

Main purpose of the role :

To challenge Members in the Designs in Mind studio to create ambitious, experimental and high-quality design. Design Leads are directly responsible for the quality, creativity and delivery of the external projects of the Studio Artist Team. To drive product and portfolio development for Designs in Mind in wholesale retail, development of trade partnerships and bespoke design commissions.

We are looking for a talented individual with:

  • A passion for design and people

  • To assist in creative workshop facilitation with patience and understanding

  • Surface Pattern Design, Textile Design or Illustration degree or relevant experience 

  • Passionate about designing across a variety of homeware products and home textiles.

  • Strong CAD skills across Photoshop and Illustrator are essential

  • A creative and attentive eye for detail, ability to spot an opportunity or generate an idea to develop and see this through to completion.

  • A confident team player, with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Highly organised, good time management ability.

The position is for a 12 month contract to cover sabbatical leave. The contract will be reviewed at 10 months to consider if the role is to become permanent.£22,500 PA 3 days per week - Tuesday to Thursday
