Keeping the campaign going

https://smashingstigma.hubbub.net/

When we launched our campaign in February this year we had no idea what to expect. We have never done anything like this before- would we be met with silence or something else that we didn’t know how to describe.

What has happened over the last 3 weeks is that we have learnt a lot. Seeing the hubbub of activity on social media, the waves of positivity coming our way from all around the world, the new conversations sparking future potential and the generous donations has had a huge impact on the studio- the sense of connection is stronger than ever before.

More of our team- members, staff and volunteers have been sharing their stories. Seeing the response from people outside of Designs in Mind, how stigma is challenged by sharing experiences has given people the confidence to start writing. With more time more people may want to share their story.

We have realised that we are a small team with ambitious plans and managing all the communication has been a challenge. Everyone is so full of ideas, but having a time limit of a month to realise all those ideas and do them justice was not realistic. We still have so much to learn so let's keep playing.

We also realised that although raising this money to pay for the shop lease is really important - because it means everything we will earn through sales in the shop can directly fund the studio, this is empowering and makes us feel like we are in control of our future, - We don’t have to do it all in one month, we have a whole year to make this happen, so let’s do that.

When we put this question to all our Ambassadors- do you think we can keep the campaign going? We got great feedback….

You are doing brilliantly… I see no reason why not to continue if momentum seems to be building’

‘Sounds great , think it’s a good move - don’t feel like we’ve got the best out of it yet , there’s loads more we can do’

‘Yes, I think it’s a great idea to extend the campaign - it would certainly allow you to explore other ideas and develop the campaign further! I would definitely be happy to carry on supporting it’

‘I love all of those ideas and definitely think we should keep going. I think that this is just the start 😊

So that is what we are going to do.

The countdown on the website has gone up.

We want your ideas, how can you help us reach our target?

Let’s keep the conversation going, keep making connections, building a community around all this incredible stuff that is going on to change how people access mental health support and make sure more people can get support when they need it- because it matters.

On February the 11th 2018 we launched a crowdfunding campaign. We want to start a conversation about mental health that is powerful. No more treading on eggshells. We are not invisible, We do not want to be hidden away. Our work in the studio and shop is #SmashingStigma every day, and now we are going to be a little noisier.

As part of the campaign we are also looking for more blogs about mental health stigma, so please get in touch if you have a story to share.
